Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2018 Ford F-150 with 1,000 Pound Trailer Tongue Weight

Question:

Hello. I have a 2020 Ford F-150 towing a trailer with a loaded tongue weight of around 1,000 pounds. Looking to help with leveling out the truck a bit more. I do have a weight distribution system that helps but I want that extra bit. Need just a little more support. What rear suspension system would you recommend? Thanks.

For your 2020 Ford F-150 I highly recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2582, which will do a great job of leveling out the rear of your truck when hooked up to the trailer, while also maintaining a smooth ride when you aren't towing. The 4,800 pound capacity air bags can be adjusted (5 to 100 psi) to help fill the gap on your suspension to reduce sag caused by the trailer's tongue weight, but it's not going to cause a harsh ride when you're riding empty because you will be able to let air out as well.

The Firestone air springs in particular are well known for their durability and long lifespan due to the unique double-convoluted construction that create four layers of support. I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference.

One thing I do recommend adding to this setup is a compressor system like the Firestone Air Command I # F2158, which will let you adjust the air bags from the comfort of your cab. I have again attached a video demonstration that you can check out.
