Can the Curt Roof Cargo Carrier Be Mounted on a 34 Inch Crossbar Spread on a Mazda 5
Question:
I have a Mazda5 with roof rack of 40 inch wide and 34 inch spacing front to rear. You say a minumum of 15 inch spacing, but will the carrier work with spacing of 34 inches? Thanks.

I went out to out warehouse and assembled the Curt Roof Cargo Carrier and measured it for you. The dimensions between the bars on the Curt Rook Mounted Cargo Basket, # C18115 are 3-1/2 inches on center. The center bars on the carrier are 4-3/8 inches on center apart. I added these dimensions to a photo for you, see link.
To mount this basket to crossbars spaced 34 inches apart on center, you will need to install the clamps between the last set of bars on the carrier as indicated in the photo. There will be approximately 1-1/4 inches play for the bars on your Mazda 5 to fit between the bars on the carrier. If your bars are wider than 2-1/4 inches this rack may not fit properly, so you should measure the cross bar width before purchasing the carrier.
I also provided a link to the installation instructions for you to review.
