Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller OL Code Troubleshooting
Question:
Vehicle: 2001 Ford F-150 w/V8 Calico Stock trailer: Trailer was squealing quite a bit so pulled wheels and brakes. Replaced brake shoes but now getting overload warning from controller. I cant find anything in the Users Manual aside from Brake controller sees an overload condition during operation. Does that mean brakes are not activating? Drawing too much power? There is feedback through the brake system?

The OL (overload) error message on your Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 means there is a problem on your trailer's brake circuit output circuit wiring due to a short. Sometimes this is a bad magnet in the brake assemblies that has worn through and the windings are shorting out to the hub of the axle. It can also be exposed wire on this circuit touching metal on the trailer as well. Since you had the hubs apart recently and after putting them back together the code appeared I'd be willing to bet something got damaged during your install/removal process.
