Is the Paint On the Torflex Lift Kits Durable

Question:

The lift blocks for dexter torflex axles, I’ve read complaints about the coating of the product. Have these issues of concern been addressed? I am wanting to install these on an aluminum framed toy hauler and am concerned about galvanic corrosion due to the dissimilar metals if any of the coating is jeopardized or missing. Also, would this lift block need any additional bracing? Should I have the blocks stripped and coated properly if the coating issue has not been resolved?

Expert Reply:

The Torflex Lift Kits like part # K71-707-02 do come with a protective painted black finish. As mentioned, the paint can chip if not careful. That said, the finish is not really crucial for most applications which is why the paint is not as durable. However, since you have an aluminium frame trailer it might be best for you to either send the lift blocks off for powder coating or simply apply a few more coats of paint yourself. Once this is done, I'm sure they will be just perfect for you nor should you have any issues with corrosion of the dissimilar metals.

There will be no additional bracing or modification needed to install the Torflex Lift Kits.
