Trailer Hitch Installation, Support Strap and 2 Bike Rack for a 1990 Mazda Miata

Question:

1990 miata going for collector status . Wish to get the C11729 . ?ions 1- what are stabilizer straps -could not find info at your site am ancient computer iliterate retiree 2- do you also have bike 2 carriers 3 - can unit be installed along with the tow rings intact ie longer and higher class of bolt etc. 4 - what is meant by a little removal of the bumper for collector the car must be intact c/w orig working audio / tape player no work no get status.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap, # 18050, is a strap that is designed to wrap around a bike rack or cargo carrier and helps to provide extra support to the receiver when carrying hitch mounted bike racks and cargo carriers. There is a rubber coated hook on one end of the strap that will hook into the trunk or hatch lip, the other end loops around the rack or carrier and the cam buckle is used to take up slack in the strap.

The tie down brackets on your Miata do not have to be removed. The hitch will bolt to existing holes on the outside surface of each boss as shown.

Trimming may or may not be required at the bottom edge of the rear fascia, depending on your vehicles construction and options. If you have a skirt fastened to the bottom of the rear fascia it will have to be trimmed for the receiver of the hitch to fit up close to the bottom of the fascia for ground clearance.

We do have two bike racks that will work with a Class I hitch. For your Miata, I recommend going with the lightest rack possible. The Kuat Beta 2 Bike Aluminum Rack, # B202-114, would be a great choice for your vehicle.
