Yes, you will need to wire in the red wire from the Hopkins Vehicle Wiring Converter # HM46155 to the stop light circuit of your vehicle. Otherwise you will not have brake lights on your trailer.
Check out the video I attached that shows how this product would install onto a similar vehicle. Basically, you will use the included circuit tester to find the correct circuit to tap into, and then use the quick-splices to tap into that circuit.
