Troubleshooting PL and SH Error Code of Tekonsha P2 Brake Controller

Question:

My controller blinks S.H. Sometimes and sometimes it blinks P.L. And sometimes it works what is going on with it? And is the short I’m my truck or the harness? I bought a new controller still does the same thing

The PL error code on the Tekonsha P2, # 90885, indicates that there was a power interruption when stepping on the brakes. The SH error code indicates that there is a short circuit at idle. Both of these problems could be caused by a bad ground connection potentially. The PL code would definitely be a wiring issue from the truck to the controller. Since this error is happening with the SH too I'd be very inclined to think it's the truck side of the wiring that's at fault. Also since you replaced the controller that rules out that as being the problem as well.

So your best option would be to go over the wiring of the brake controller looking for any obvious shorts like cut or exposed wire and fix as needed.
