Solution to Soften Ride on 2010 Chevy Silverado 2500 Towing Travel Trailer with Weight Distribution
Question:
Will this help my truck ride smoother? I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado 2500 and I pull a 8500lb travel trailer. It has a extremely rough ride when Im pulling this on the highway and was looking for something to help the truck ride smoother. I do have a weight distribution hitch with a dual cam sway prevention system, thanks.

If what you mean by "rough ride" is that your truck is bottoming out and experiencing excessive bouncing then absolutely! The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2250 will provide an excellent solution to those issues when pulling your travel trailer.
Because the air springs install between your vehicle's frame and its rear suspension, they are designed to absorb road shock and soften any contact between your axle and frame, preventing your truck from bottoming out and resulting in a much smoother ride.
That being said, depending on which weight distribution system you're using, it may be a matter of needing to properly adjust the system. Or, you could be using a system that is simply rated for a much higher load than what you're towing.
If your weight distribution system is sitting level with your truck, no suspension enhancement system will improve the ride quality of your truck. The only solution there is to replace your system with one that is properly rated to match the tongue weight of your loaded trailer.
For example, # RP66131 is designed to work best on trailers with a loaded tongue weight (TW) between 800 lbs - 1,500 lbs. The closer your actual TW is to the middle of the range, the best it will perform. To measure your TW, you can use a tongue weight scale like # e99044. The # RP66131 does not include the shank or sway control, so you could re-use the parts you have if you find this is a more suitable system.
