Trailer Sway Control is Too Loud
Question:
My eaz sway control makes a lot of noise. What can I do?

Expert Reply:
So any friction sway control that depends on metal on metal or metal on some sort of friction material will make some noise which is unavoidable, I'm sorry to say. The noise is caused by the two materials rubbing against each other which is what provides the resistance that helps minimize the sway caused by oncoming/passing traffic and cross winds. Anything that is done to minimize the friction such as lubricating the points of contact will limit the effectiveness of the sway control which can cause a different problem. Many folks say that really the only time the noise is bothersome is when they're going through a campground late at night. If that's the issue, you could always remove the bars or release the tension on a sway unit like # 17200 upon arrival.
