Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2019 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I do not have a tow package and already purchased the OEM hitch receiver. But I asked a dealer part department about a wiring harness and received 3 different answers from 3 different people, one involving a part that cost around $250 for just the wiring. The answer from Conner L to Duane seems to confirm that the only wiring needed will be the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56406 and nothing more. Is that correct for any trailer or RV trailer, or are there other considerations? Also, will I need any sort of cover for the hitch? I wish I had started with you all on this.

We can do a little better than the $ 250.00 the stealership wanted to charge you. The # C56406 would indeed be the correct wiring harness for your 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. This connector provides a standard 4-pin trailer connector that provides only the basic lighting functions. You can see the installation on a 2019 Cherokee by clicking the provided link.
If the trailer you're wanting to tow has brakes, you'll need to go a step further and upgrade to a 7-way trailer connector with a brake controller to actuate the trailer brakes. The easiest way to do this is to use the Curt Echo, part # C51180 and the installation kit, part # ETBC7L. The Brake Controller uses your Android or iPhone as the control/display, and the installation kit includes an adapter that converts the # 118779 to a 7-way connector.
We offer tons of different hitch covers, everything from plain and unobtrusive to attention-getting... Got a favorite sports team? We probably have a hitch cover with their logo. Were you in the military, or have family that are in the service? We have those too. And many others besides that. You can click the link I provided to see what's available. A hitch cover isn't absolutely necessary, but they do keep some of the mud and road debris out of the receiver tube.
