Replacement Boat Trailer Winch for Winch Mounted In Channel On Frame

Question:

Hi there. Most winches are too wide for my trailer which has a recessed slot for the winch and a cutout for the handle. The current winch is a touch over 3 3/8 and just shy of 3 1/2 inches wide. The mounting holes are 4 1/8inch center to center, and down the middle of the winch. The handle axle is located 1 1/2inch from the nearest mounting hole, and 1 7/8inch from the bottom of the plate to the center of the handle axle. This winch looks like a promising option. Do you have anything else that will fit these dimensions? It may be difficult to see but ive attached a pic for reference.

I do have plenty of options for you to choose from but finding one that matches what you have exactly is going to be next to impossible unless you were able to find the same model. Therefore, you are most likely gong to need to do a bit of modifications if you want to replace this winch. It looks like the winch mount setup you have now was a one-off for your particular winch model. The Fulton F2 Fully Enclosed Trailer Winch part # FW16000101 has a 6-3/16" long x 3-3/8" wide base but the mounting hole pattern is a bit different so you will need to re drill these holes as well as a new access hole for the handle shaft most likely.

The other option you have is to cut off the winch mount just after the trailer jack and then install the CE Smith Winch Stand part # CE31013G which is a much more feasible solution for you and what I recommend. The Fulton F2 Fully Enclosed Trailer Winch will then work with the CE Smith Winch Stand.
