Sport Trailer With 15 Inch Hitch Ball Height
Question:
I am considering a Yakima Rack and Roll 78 to tow behind my 2006 Subaru Legacy wagon. I see the recommended ball height is 22 inches. Even with one of your 1-1/4 inch ball mount with 5 inch rise, I will be at perhaps 15 inches ball height. Is this a good idea? Options if not please?

I have a great option that is going to work for you, though I checked with Yakima, and to use the Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 the top of the hitch ball must be 22" off the ground. An inch or two in either direction would work, but the seven inch difference you have would make the trailer susceptible to fishtailing due to the uneven tongue height.
With that said, there is a similar trailer that is going to work very well for you, the Malone MicroSportXT Trailer # MPG460XT, which requires the hitch ball to be 15" from the ground.
The MicroSportXT has 78" crossbars which gives you a lot of room to mount numerous accessories, is capable of handling a boat up to 20' (compared to the 17' maximum boat length of the Rack and Roll), and its crossbars have a 500 lb capacity (compared to the 250 lb capacity of the Rack and Roll). Another thing I really like about the Malone trailer is that you can add the Storage Trunk for Malone MicroSport and XtraLight Trailers # MPG481 which fits underneath the crossbars, allowing you to store extra gear when hitting the road.
This trailer also has a retractable tongue which makes it much easier to store, and because it only needs the hitch ball to be 15" from the ground, you will be able to use the Draw-Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches - 5" Rise # 36065 with 2" Hitch Ball # 19258 so the trailer will be level when towing it with your '06 Legacy wagon.
I have added links to a couple video reviews of the Malone MicroSportXT Trailer # MPG460XT for you to check out as well.
