5th Wheel Hitch Needed for 2019 Ford F-150 6-1/2 Bed Towing Forest River with Lippert Turning Point
Question:
I am a bit confused. I have a 2019 Ford 150 with a 6 1/2 ft bed. I plan to purchase a 2020 Forest River 5th wheel RV that will require a min of a 16K towing capacity. The Forest River standardly has a pin box that allows short bed trucks to pull fifth wheels without the use of a slider hitch. The pin box they use is the Lippert Components Turning Point Pin Box. So, I assume when looking at hitches on your site, I should indicate I have a 8’ bed, as if I search with a 6 1/2 size bed, it directs me to sliding hitches which I should not need, right? When doing so, for example the Reese RP30047 hitch comes up but it has a warning that reads: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch will not fit pickups with beds shorter than 6foot unless used with a Sidewinder. It also will not fit trucks with flareside/stepside bed. So, I am not sure how to search properly for my truck to ensure a proper fit. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you Peter

In order to tow a 2020 Forest River 5th Wheel with Lippert Turning Point Pin Box using a 2019 Ford F-150 with 6-1/2' bed you will need to use a fixed 5th wheel hitch. I recommend the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16115 with installation kit # C93WR. This setup is reliable, yet economical.
Keep in mind, you'll also need to use Sidewinder Wedge # C16991 to keep the king pin from rotating inside the hitch head.
