Installing New 4-Way on Trailer that Uses Non-Standard Colors

Question:

My 4 prong plug fell off. I have 5 wires coming from my trailer Yellow, yellow with brown stripe their insulation is mated. brown and brown with blue stripe their insulation is mated. And a white. I bought a 4 prong plug white, brown, green, yellow and wired white to white, yellow to yellow, brown to brown then paired brown/blue and yellow brown then connected that to green. I have no running lights, left blinker does not work, no brakes lights. When the right blinker is activated it blinks the right running light and it also blink my 4 prong plug to 7 prong lighted adapter. I attempted to swap the green and brown wires and I got the same results. Ideas?

Best option is going to be to take a jumper wire from a positive battery post and jump 12 volts to each of the wires you have on your trailer and note what functions turn on and then wire the new 4-way accordingly as it sounds like your trailer uses non-standard colors which is making things difficult. If one sparks it's the ground circuit.

So the white of the new 4-way goes to ground, brown to running lights, yellow to left turn/stop, and green to right turn/stop. I also attached a link to a page that has trailer wiring diagrams for you to check out as well.
