Recommended B&W Companion for 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty with Short Bed
Question:
I have a 2017 Ford F250 with the 6.8 bed. I have a bandw turn over ball alreaded installed. Im wondering if i can use the bandw mount that goes into the ball to make it a 5th wheel or if ill have clearance problems because its a shorter bed. The truck we use now with this set up is a 8ft box.

If your 2017 Ford F-250 has the short bed with the B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1116 then it is recommended to use the sliding version of the B&W Companion which is part # BWRVK3400.
You could try using the stationary Companion # BWRVK3500 but if you need to make any tight turns you will likely see that your trailer makes contact with the cab of your F-250.
One of the neat things about the Companion 5th wheel hitches is that they all use the same hitch head. So if you already have the stationary base and you want to use the slider version then you just need to use the base # BWRVB3405.
On a side note, if you don't already have a 7-Way connector in the bed of your F-250 then I highly recommend the Hopkins # 41157 because it helps to make connecting and disconnecting your trailer wiring much easier.
