Installation of SMI Stay in Play Duo on a 2019 GMC Canyon with Vacuum Line at Stoplight Switch
Question:
Thank you for your reply. I ordered the brake switch kit you recommended and finally received it today. This brings me to a follow up question. The brake light switch kit recommendation came because of the requirement that the battery on my 2019 GMC Canyon be disconnected while towing it behind my motorhome which made the existing brake light switch inactive. The purpose of the added brake light kit is to illuminate the LED strip for the Demco Stay in Play Duo braking system when the brake pedal in the Canyon is activated. Upon looking at the instructions for the RM 751452 kit, I will need to use Option 2 for the wiring. This brings me to my questions. 1. Am I correct in stating that the Stay in Play LED’s will illuminate regardless of the Demco system being on or not when I physically depress the brake pedal? 2. If so, is there a way to have the LED’s switched off when the Demco system is not on? (Maybe power the auxiliary brake switch through the Stay in Play control box instead of directly to the battery?) Thank you for your response.

Attaching the DUO part # SM99251 to the relocated vacuum line you have in your 2019 GMC Canyon is perfectly acceptable.
I'd recommend going with a stoplight switch kit like part # RM-751000 as this will allow you to know when the system is engaging. If you don't use a kit like this you won't have a positive indication that the system is applying the brakes when it's activated. The switch kit will for sure let you know it's working when it is.
