Best Weight Distribution System For 2011 Nissan Xterra Towing Travel Trailer With A lot Of Sway
Question:
We are using a stock 2011 Nissan Xterra Pro4x for our tow vehicle. We just purchased a 2000 20foot aljo roadrunner hybrid travel trailer. Fully loaded it weighs between 4,000 and 5,000 pounds, depending on how far and where we are going. Our tongue weight is between 500 and 700 pounds. We took it on one trip, and it was very scary with the amount of sway it had. It also causes the rear end of our xterra to dip down substantially. We would love to be able to travel feeling safe! What would be the best system for our setup?

I am happy to recommend a weight distribution system to help you feel safe Justine. I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control part # RP66083 which has a dual cam design that is proactive at preventing sway before it happens rather than trying to correct sway after it happens like other systems.
This Reese Strait-Line sway control system is designed for tongue weights between 400 lbs - 800 lbs so it is perfect for your setup. The system will also distribute the weight to take the weight off the axle to eliminate some of the sag from the rear of the Xterra. The only additional part you need is a hitch ball with 1/4" diameter shank part # 19286 for a 2-5/16" or part # A-90 for a 2" ball. I have attached a helpful installation video for your reference.
