Recommended Stainless Steel Hitch Lock for 2-1/2 Receiver

Question:

Your ad says its stainless steel, but on the video and in the fine print it says the shaft is chrome plated steel. If this is true, just what exactly what part is stainless? I drive a 2008 Tundra with the 2 1/2inch receiver and am looking for a true stainless steel pin lock since I live in Michigan. My experience in the past tells me mere steel, whether chrome plated or not, is not going to stand up to a Michigan winter without locking up solidly due to corrosion.

The Master Lock Trailer Hitch Lock # 1469DAT referenced in your question features a stainless steel swivel head (the actual lock core/cylinder at the end) but the pin itself is constructed of chrome-plated steel like you mentioned.

For a true stainless steel locking pin that will work great for the 2-1/2" hitch receiver on your Tundra I instead recommend the B&W # C23025. This heavy-duty locking pin features a stainless steel construction throughout and it uses a tube key cylinder (instead of traditional flat keys) that is much harder to pick and better resists drilling. The plastic dust cap will also help to protect the cylinder itself during those brutal Michigan winters.

I have attached a short video demonstration that you can check out as well.
