Comparing the B&W Companion Slider and Demco Hijacker Autoslide for a Ford Super Duty with Pucks

Question:

Thanks for your assistance. However I am stuck between the Demco Auto slide and the B&W 3370. Could you offer an expert opinion. I am considering weight, simplicity of operation, as I am 68 year young lol also ease of assembly and disassembly as to installing and removing from the truck bed

The Demco Hijacker Autoslide part # DM8550024 and B&W Companion Slider part # BWRVK3370 are both excellent options. In regards to weight, the B&W Companion Slider is lighter at 260 lbs than the Demco Hijacker Autoslide at 300 lbs. The B&W Companion Slider can be broken down into two pieces; the head which weighs around 70 lbs and the base which weighs around 190 lbs. The Demco Hijacker Autoslide can be broken down into three pieces, the head which weighs around 60 lbs, the side brackets which weigh around 60 lbs as well, and the base which weighs around 180 lbs.

In regards to ease of installation and disassembly, the edge also goes to the B&W Companion Slider as the head is much easier to remove than on the Demco Hijacker Autoslide as it can be done by pulling out two pins. In regards to ease of use, the edge then again goes to the B&W Companion Slider because the cam action handle lets you uncouple the trailer on uneven ground. The other big difference in regards to ease of use is that you don't have to be straight as an arrow with the trailer in order to couple like you will for the Demco Hijacker Autoslide because of the capture plates.

The advantage of the Demco Hijacker Autoslide is that you don't have to get in and out of the truck to make sharp turns but you would be surprised as to how few times this is actually required so in summary, I highly recommend the B&W Companion Slider.
