Four Bike Rack for 2018 Mazda CX-9 That Can Allow Rear Cargo Area Access
Question:
Video reviews of the Yakima HoldUp state that for *some* SUV models, the HoldUp doesn't tilt down far enough to allow the hatch door to fully open. But I cant find any confirmation that it would work specifically with the Mazda CX-9 2018. Obviously it depends on the bike and its handlebar width that youve got on that closest cradle space, but I was hoping to find a general recommendation for or against for the CX-9.

While we haven't test fit the HoldUp # Y02443-2 on a 2018 Mazda CX-9 like yours we can say that at the worst you'd have partial access to the rear hatch area like what you see in the picture. Like you said there are other factors like handlebar width etc.
If you wanted a four bike rack that I could guarantee would give you full rear door access with bikes loaded the best option is the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Rack # Y02465 which is a hanging rack that has ability to swing away from vehicle with bikes loaded. One thing to consider with the HoldUp is that even if you had access with the rack tilted it's going to be extremely heavy to raise and lower with the weight of 4 bikes on it. That's another advantage to the FullSwing as it swivels out and does not require lifting.
The Draw Tite hitch # 76020 that you referenced is also the correct fit for your vehicle and the hitch I recommend as it has plenty of capacity and is mostly hidden. See attached install video.
