2008 Ford Edge Brake Controller Install Instructions and Recommendation
Question:
Can a brake controller be installed in a 2008 Ford Edge? My Edge has a factory tow package with a flat 4 connector, but I would like to add a brake controller for safety so I can tow my 2500 lb cargo trailer in the winter. Thank you for any help to solve this problem.

Yes, you can install a brake controller on your 2008 Ford Edge. Since your Edge has a working factory 4-Way connector you will only need a brake controller and the brake controller installation kit, # ETBC7, that you referred to.
For a brake controller the Prodigy P2, # 90885, which is easy to install and use, and gets great reviews by our customers, would be a great choice.
We have a video showing the installation of the P2 brake controller with the ETBC7 kit on a Dodge Nitro that should be very helpful, and we have detailed instructions for you, see links. The vehicle in the video is different but the wiring principles are exactly the same. You might need a circuit tester, # PTW2993, for testing to find the correct brake switch wire under the dash of your vehicle.
To attach the 7-Way connector at the back of your Edge, without drilling, you may also be interested in the no drill mount bracket, # C57202. This bracket can be attached to the trailer hitch with the included hose clamp and then the bracket for the 7-Way can be attached to the bracket.
