Comparing the Demco Hijacker and PullRite SuperGlide for a 2019 Ram 3500

Question:

I am looking for a hitch for my 2019 Ram 3500 Mega Cab 4X4. I purchased the truck with the 5th wheel prep package. I need to purchase a new hitch because my Pullrite 4100 slider will no longer work unless I add adapters that will only cause the hitch to sit 4inch higher. I pull a 28foot Sandstorm toy hauler. Im having a hard time making a decision between the Demco 18k, Pullrite 2315 and the Andersen Ranch Hitch adapter. My main concern with Demco is that the adapter plate will make it sit 2inch higher from the start. My trailer already rides nose high as it is. What would your suggestion be?

The Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550035 is 15-1/4" tall while at its lowest setting. In order to use this on a 2019 Ram 3500 you will need the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package part # DM6099 which measures 1-5/8" tall for a grand total of 16-7/8" tall. The PullRite SuperGlide OEM 5th Wheel Hitch 2315 is 16-3/4" tall so they will have the same hitch height.

I much prefer the Demco Hijacker because it is more cost effective, has a wraparound style jaw with security bar for top of the line grip/security, and it comes with a capture plate so you don't need to obtain this separately like you would for the PullRite SuperGlide. The hitch head height can also be adjusted on the Demco Hijacker to go up to 18" if needed whereas the PullRite SuperGlide has a fixed height.

The Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter part # AM3139 can produce a rough ride and they can also void your trailer warranty so this is not the route I recommend taking.
