Tires Wearing On One Side Of Trailer with E-Z Flex Equalizers Installed

Question:

Hello, My travel trailer is a 2013 Heartland Trail Runner SLE. I put the K71-652-00 kit on it about a year ago. We have been out on several trips since and love the ride. However I have started to notice that both the tires on the passenger side of the trailer are wearing on the outer and inner edges and the middle of the tire thread seems to have very little wear. The driver side of the trailer tires seem to be wearing normal. Is it possible that this kit is causing this unusual wear on the passenger side tires, or do I have another issue that needs to be looked at. If it makes any difference the passenger side was the side I did last. Thanks for the help...

The E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System part # K71-652-00 would not have much of an effect on irregular tire wear unless something was pretty blatantly wrong. The issue that is causing your tires to wear on the outer and inner edges sounds like the tires could be under-inflated as that is the most common cause of this problem. Therefore, I recommend you check to make sure that all tires on the trailer are filled to the max psi listed on the sidewall while cold. If the leaf springs are worn further on one side of the trailer than the other then that as well could cause tire wear issues. This can be confirmed by taking a few height measurements with the trailer unloaded on both sides and comparing.

If it turns out you do need to replace the leaf springs just let me know what your unloaded eye to eye measurement is or you can take a look at our selection which I have attached for you. It might also be a good time to install some shocks while you are down there, the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit part # LC281255 which can help decrease irregular tire wear.
