Does Tekonsha Voyager Output Voltage With Brake Pedal While Vehicle is Stopped

Question:

I have the Tekonsha Voyager XT brake controller installed and leveled on a 2012 GMC Sierra SLE. The display light shows green with the trailer connected parked and shows red when the manual slide is actuated but no red display when the brake pedal is depressed. Does the vehicle and trailer need to be in motion to activate the trailer brakes by depressing the brake pedal? If so, is this the correct or intended function of the controller? Thanks for any clarification.

You are on the right track. The Tekonsha Voyager is a proportional controller, so it will not send voltage back to the trailer brakes with the brake pedal UNLESS the vehicle is in motion and the controller senses deceleration. Your brake controller is operating normally.
