Replacement Wheel To Match Maximum Weight Capacity of ST225/75R15 Load Range E Tires on Trailer

Question:

I have 4 new ST225/75R15 tires E-rated that I put on my travel trailer last year - not thinking about the wheel/rim ratings mistake. Id like to replace the wheels/rims on my travel trailer so that the tire and wheel ratings match. Can you advise as to whether this model of wheel TTWAL04156655 will work with this tire? or if you have a recommendation for a wheel that will work with these tires. The current wheels have 6 studs on 5.5inch centers Center distance accross the hub. When I find the right wheels, I plan on purchasing a total of six 6 wheels/rims. Four 4 or the road and Two2 as my trailer spares. Bad experiences have made me road wise and extra cautious.

I would recommend to check the sidewall of your ST225/75R15 Load Range E tires to verify what the maximum load capacity is and at what maximum psi. Most of the load range E tires in that size are a 2,830 lbs at 80 psi.

The HWT Aluminum Star Mag Trailer Wheel, part # AM20516, that you have referenced is a 15 x 6 inch wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. It has a maximum load capacity of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi. The center hole, or pilot hole diameter is 4.25 inches. This wheel should match the weight capacity of the load range E tires you have and as long as the hub diameter on your trailer is less than 4.25 inches it should work fine.

Another wheel I have available is the Dexstar White Spoke Wheel, part # AM20532. This wheel is a 15 x 6 wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern and a weight capacity of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi. The pilot hole diameter is 4.27 inches.

I am including a link to a FAQ page on trailer tires.
