The Thule OutWay 2 Trunk Bike Rack, part # TH45JV, is an excellent choice for your 2009 Volkswagen Jetta sedan. This is one of our most popular selling trunk bike racks. The OutWay bike rack is the easiest bike rack to install and remove. It uses only 2 retractable cables instead of 6 straps to secure the rack to the vehicle for a fast and easy installation. It has a 2 bike capacity with a total weight capacity of 66 lbs.

The OutWay bike rack should not damage your vehicle as long as you do not over tighten it to your car. It uses the Thule FitDial system which uses a particular number that will allow you to get a perfect fit on your vehicle. The lower arm of the bike rack will be positioned on the upper tier of the bumper. It is always recommended with a trunk bike rack that it be removed when not in use.

You might also want to make sure when installing the rack to your vehicle that you clean the areas of the vehicle where the bike rack will make contact. Removing any dirt and grime from those areas will help keep the paint finish of your car from being damaged. After cleaning, a good coat of a high quality wax will also help protect the finish.

If you will be carrying any women's, children's, or alternative frame bikes, that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across from handle bars to seat post, I recommend adding the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, part # TH982XT, to carry the bikes more level. I am including a video of this adapter also.
