How To Wire Brake Controller and 7-Way Plug In 2020 Hyundai Palisade
Question:
hi, i saw the kit that u offer on line for the 2020 palisade brake control. my question is, where on the vehicle do u tap in to pick up bake pedal input to the controller as it has a brake pedal position sensor. we tapped into the rear left brake light at the tail light assembly and the prodigy kept the right brake light illuminated. we tapped into the hi mount and that made the vehicle lose its insta start push button function, the start button had to be pushed 3 times and would only start after the brake control booted up and turn on the abs and trac and avoidence yellow lights . we tried to erase the lights but our scanner only goes up to 2017. we finally gave up and are thinking we will have to use a wireless model.

The Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195 needs to be wired to the cold side of the brake light switch which is normally located near the brake pedal. You would need to test the wires at the brake pedal for the wire that only shows power when the brakes are applied using a circuit tester like part # PTW2992. That is the wire that you would attach the red wire from coming from the brake controller. I have attached a diagram that shows how to wire the 7-way plug and brake controller into the 2020 Hyundai Palisade. Since we have not had a chance to wire a brake controller to a 2020 Palisade at this time (September 2019) I cannot tell you what color the wire is or where it's located exactly.
Some vehicles do not have easy access to the brake light switch so you can install a Roadmaster Universal Stop Light Switch Kit part # RM-751000 and then attach the red wire to that. However, I do have an easier option for you since you are considering a wireless model. I recommend you keep the 7-Way plug kit part # ETBC7 and use the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller - Wireless - 1 to 2 Axles part # C51180. The Curt Echo only requires 12V power from the Palisade's battery. All you would need to do is attach the black wire from my 7-way to vehicle's battery and ground the plug. Then the Curt Echo will plug into the 7-way. The rest of the wires can be tucked away because they are not needed. The brake settings can be controlled via your smart phone.

Rather than connecting brake activation up under the dash - difficult. Or buying a wireless brake controller - expensive.Couldnt it be wired at the brake switch fuse using a fuse tap ?
