Can Gooseneck Safety Chains 49150 be Used with Cattle Trailer

Question:

I have a tandem axle 16inch cattle trailer and need new safety chains. Will the #49150 size chains be sufficient? I have the Ford/Reese gooseneck hitch setup. Want to make sure the 5/16inch hooks will fit the tie-downs.

The Tow Ready Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks # 49150 have a 16,000 lb trailer capacity so as long as your trailer weighs less than that when loaded these would be a properly rated safety chain for your setup. The length of these is also 44 inches so you might verify that this length would be sufficient as well. In general this is a length that works well for most so I wouldn't anticipate it being an issue.

For a higher rated chain set we have the part # RP49151 which has a 20k capacity and is also 44 inches in length.

These also can fit the safety chain tie down loops of your Ford/Reese OEM rail kit in your truck bed as well.
