Can Redarc BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1240D Be Used to Charge 2 Trailer Batteries

Question:

I have two separate batteries in my trailer. one for the lift and one for the trailer lights and the winch. Is there a way to use one of these units and charge both batteries without them feeding back to each other?

I spoke with my contact at Redarc regarding the In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1240D. He said this unit could charge two batteries on the trailer but only if they were pretty close together and of the same chemistry.

If this is the case then you can add the Redarc Smart Start Battery Isolator # 331-SBI12 between the two batteries to prevent one feeding into the other. I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.

Otherwise your best option for charging two separate 12V batteries is just going to be with one that plugs into A/C shore power like the NOCO Genius # NOC94FR. This unit can charge up to three 12V batteries simultaneously and the multi-stage charging algorithm eliminates the fear of overcharging.

You can use this to charge up your trailer's batteries before a trip and at any stops that have shore power available.

I have RV with 2 auxiliary batteries 6 volts each and the RV (engine Triton V10) regular 12 volts battery, the NOCO Genius # 329-GENM3 work to charge the 3 batteries even if 2 of then are 6 volts batteries. I will appreciate your recommendations. Thank you
