Best 5th Wheel Hitch with Compatible Underbed Install Kits for 2003 Silverado 2500 and 2012 Ram 2500
Question:
If I get a puck system for a ram truck will the Reese signature series 18K part 30847 be able to go from my Chevy truck to the ram? Can it mount to rails without the sliders if I have an 8ft bed with rails?

Expert Reply:
The Reese Elite and the Reese Signature Series Fifth Wheel Hitches both only mount to underbed kits designed specifically for their respective hitch. Unfortunately there aren't any adapter kits or underbed systems available for your 2003 Chevy Silverado with the 8ft bed, so there isn't going to be a way to use those hitches on that vehicle.
For this reason I think the best solution is using a different hitch that provides you with the ability to switch trucks and allow you to use underbed mounting kits for both. I recommend going with the B & W Companion Hitch # BWRVK3500-5W and pairing this hitch with the underbed kits for your 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 # BWGNRK1067-5W (HD version) or # BWGNRK1059-5W (LD version). The underbed kit for your 2012 Ram 2500 is # BWGNRK1313-5W .
B&W makes some of the best 5th wheel hitches on the market and the Companion has a dual jaw to keep rattle and movement to a minimum compared to slide bar models. Since this hitch has underbed kits for both vehicles, you're going to have the clean bed you were looking for when the hitch isn't installed.
