Towing Capacity 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
I own one of these puppies with a v6. After I bought it thinking it could tow 6200 lbs the RV dealer showed me in small print of the owners manual that my vehicle was limited to 3500 lbs without a factory tow package installed. Who is telling the truth here? I have a 7200 lb rated tow bar and an engine that can do it but I do NOT have a separate transmission cooler or super-charging alternator. What, if anything, can I add to allow me to tow 6200 lbs safely?

I looked through the online copy of the owner's manual for the 2014 Grand Cherokee, and was unable to find anything stating that the tow capacity was reduced because of the lack of he tow package. I'm not sure where the guy from the RV dealer got his information. If I were you, I'd try to confirm this with your Jeep dealer. You can provide them with the VIN, and they can tell you exactly how your GC is equipped and how that would affect the towing capacity.
If you would decide to tow the RV in question, I would highly recommend going with a supplemental transmission cooler like # D13502. A transmission cooler is one of the best inexpensive investments you can make to protect your transmission. I'll link you to an installation video showing a different cooler being installed on a older Jeep Liberty. The procedure on your Grand Cherokee would be pretty similar.
