Why A Converter Is Important On Certain Trailer Wiring
Question:
This is for a 95 Honda Accord which has separate wires for STOP, TAIL, LEFT-TURN, RIGHT-TURN, and GND. I am thinking about changing my system to separate turn signal lights on my trailer since I am replacing the system. I wanted to try to not use a new conversion box which blew out. I already purchased new LED 2 wire standard stop/turn/tail combination lights. I would purchase 2 new orange marker lights and use them as turn signals. In general, why couldnt the brake signal run in the same wires with the tail lights? If I use separate wires for the turn signals Again- this all would be splicing directly into my car wiring

If you run the brake signal on the same wire as the tail lights the brake lights will always illuminate when you turn the Honda's headlights on. You would not have a separate brake signal when you brake. Without the converter you may also cause an overload on the electrical system of the Honda and blow fuses when you tow.
I recommend to use the custom fit wiring harness part # 118336 on the 1995 Honda Accord because the Tekonsha converter boxes have been known to last a bit longer then the other options. This wiring harness will be a plug and play option so there is not a need to splice into the vehicle's wiring.
