Can a Weight Distribution System be Used with Curt Trailer Hitch on 2019 Kia Niro
Question:
Hi, I am planning on towing a 3,000lb trailer, and would like a bit of extra stability, so I am wondering if I can use a weight distribution hitch, considering that I will still be under the 525/3500lb ratings. It says that it is not rated for a weight distribution system. Does that mean a WDS cannot be used whatsoever? Or does it just mean that a weight distribution hitch would not add any tongue/trailer capacity to the hitch? Best,

That's a great question!
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13329 for your 2019 Kia Niro cannot be used with a weight distribution (WD) system. Curt has determined that it would put too much stress on the trailer hitch so they cannot recommend using it.
Normally in this case I would recommend using a suspension enhancement solution but so far (Sept. 2019) there aren't any for a Kia Niro so I recommend either making sure you tow a smaller trailer or that you use a different vehicle for this towing application as there aren't any trailer hitches for your Kia Niro designed for use with WD.
Please note that page 6-100 of the online owner's manual for your Niro states that Kia doesn't recommend towing a trailer with your vehicle so if you decide to do so and something were to become damaged as a result it likely wouldn't be covered under warranty.
