Question:

I have a 2018 RAM 2500 quad cab with a 6.5 foot box, which towing set up will work best for me, a fifth wheel or goose neck, the camper I have is set up for a gooseneck now but I can remove it if need be

Generally speaking, 5th wheel towing is more comfortable than gooseneck towing because it has a different connection system and 5th wheel hitches typically have something built in to help reduce the chucking and jarring you can get when towing with an in-bed hitch. The advantage of a gooseneck system is that you don't have to mess with carrying a heavy hitch which means less things you have to be concerned about when getting ready for your camping trip.

Since you have a 6-1/2' bed on your 2018 Ram 2500 I recommend going with the 5th wheel hitch because your turning clearance will be limited. There are some gooseneck adapters out there that have an offset but nothing that allows you to make tight turns.

For your application I highly recommend a B&W towing setup because of how well-built their systems are and everybody loves the operation. If you have the OEM pucks on your Ram then you can use the Companion # BWRVK3670 but if you don't have the factory pucks then I recommend the Companion # BWRVK3400-5W which installs in their gooseneck hitch # BWGNRK1384-5W. This option gives you the best of both worlds and allows you to still tow a gooseneck hitch if the need arises.

Please note that if you have a RamBox then the second option won't work and we need to explore a different avenue.

Some additional products you may be interested in is a wiring kit like part # C56070 for an in-bed 7-Way connection for your trailer wiring, and the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device # BWRVXA3130 to help make installing and removing your 5th wheel hitch a bit easier.

I have attached some review videos for you to check out. If you let me know what number pin box fits your camper I can help you to replace the gooseneck coupler with a 5th wheel pin box.
