In order to pin or unpin the latch pin of the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3500-5W the plastic bed liner would need to cut out the complete circumference around the hitch. If the bed liner is not cut out then the latch pin will not engage properly.

If you do have the bed liner completely cut out around the hitch then it is a good idea to make sure the foot pads are in the correct orientation. Each pad attaches to the base through the slot at the end of the base leg. Check the width of your bed ribs by setting the wide face of the plastic foot in the bed rib. If the foot does not reach the bottom of the bed rib, then you need to flip it over. If the foot pad is in the wrong orientation then the pin may not engage.

Lastly, if your foot pads are in the correct orientation make sure the socket adjuster is not in the way of the pin engaging in the post but it sounds like to me the bed liner is not cut out properly for a good fit.
