Are Radial Trailer Tires a Better Choice for Small Cargo Trailer

Question:

I have a 4.5x8 trailer that is rated to carry ~1400 lbs. that is on 5.30-12 tires. I am planning to haul a UTV in it that weighs ~1100 lbs. As I will be running a couple hours on highways and then down gravel roads I am looking to upgrade the tires to radials. I am interested if the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12inch White Spoke Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR D Item # AM31199DX would be a good option? Are there any items I need to consider if I am looking to change these tires out?

The # AM31199DX wheel/tire combo you referenced would be a great choice for you. The radial tires will give you a much better highway ride, and because radial tires typically run cooler you'll likely get longer life out of them. The tires will have plenty of capacity for the load you're carrying, and since the tire's diameter is right about the same as the existing tires you're using, you won't have any clearance problems.

I've linked you to one of our help articles that contains more information about trailer tires. I hope you'll find the information helpful.
