Will the Yakima SkyBox 12 Clear the Hatch On a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk

Question:

I read on your site that the Skybox 12 fits on the Cherokee and the hatch opens all the way. I have front Rhino Rack Vortex bar installed as far forward as it can go. My Skybox 12 does not allow the hatch to open all the way. The Skybox is also installed as far forward as possible. What am I doing wrong? Happy to send pictures if that will help.

The distance from the center of the front crossbar while in the forward most position to the rear hatch line on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee with raised side rails is 51". The Yakima SkyBox 12 Rooftop Cargo Box part # Y07334 that you referenced requires 57" so they will indeed not work together.

If you are looking for a cargo box that will clear your rear hatch then I recommend the Thule Pulse Medium Rooftop Cargo Box part # TH614 as it offers more room for cargo (14 cu. ft.) and it only requires 42-5/8" from the center of the front crossbar while in the forward most position to the rear hatch line so it will work for you as you can see in the attached video.
