Finding Reverse Light Circuit When Installing 4-Way to 5-Way Adapter on Vehicle

Question:

Where would I find access to the reverse wire to splice the 5th reverse circuit from the 5 pin adapter? And what color would that wire be? I’m thinking I can remove the light cover and look at the light itself? Thank you.

When connecting to the reverse light circuit of a vehicle for a 5-way adapter like the part # 20036 you want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wires that run to the reverse light circuit till you find the one that has voltage when the reverse light is on. That's the power circuit to use for the 5th pin of the adapter.

I don't have a way to look up what color the wire would be on your truck but using the tester will lead you to the correct circuit.
