The Curt Echo part # C51180 fits most of what you mentioned wanting with the exception of maybe price. This controller is by far the easiest to install as basically all you have to do is plug it into your 7-way and then sync your phone to it and you've completed the install. It's the only solution that won't require some modification to the dash of your vehicle though and it's proportional so it matches the intensity you are applying the vehicle brakes with the trailer brakes. Since there's no physical controller that mounts on your vehicle interior it's the most "compact" design you could come up with.
The standard style of brake controllers like our very popular and great working P2 part # 90885 will require drilling into the dash to mount so while I understand your concern about pricing I do believe you'll be the happiest with the Echo since you avoid having to do any complex and time-consuming wiring and you don't have to modify the dash on your brand new vehicle at all!
I attached a review video for the Echo for you to check out as well as a link to what hardwiring a brake controller consists of.
