How to Determine if License Plate Light is Wired Incorrectly
Question:
Hi, I bought part number RVSTLB61 and wired it up. The license plate light does not light when you turn on the headlights of the tow truck but will flash when you turn on the turn signal. Is the light defective or did I wire it incorrectly. I wired it white to white ground, black to black and green to green.

Thanks for the detailed description and based on that you did wire the Low Profile LED RV Tail Light w/ License Bracket # RVSTLB61 incorrectly. While it is tempting to match wire colors, you need to match the wires by the function of the trailer lights. The black wire of this light is the tail light and the green is the stop/turn signal light so if you reverse that wiring you will be hooked up correctly.
I have added a link to a help article on trailer wiring for you which I recommend reading and if you don't already have one, a circuit tester will be a great benefit for future wiring. The very handy Cordless Circuit Tester # PTW2979 would be my strong recommendation due to how easy it is to use.
