Deciding Between the Blue Ox SwayPro and Equal-i-zer for a 7,500 Lb Trailer

Question:

Just bought the Blue Ox and noticed that I got the BXW1500 and not the BXW100, should I replace it. I have a Gross weight of 7,500# and tongue rated to 1200#. Also, I was considering the Equal-i-zer 4-point Sway Control Hitch, 90-00-1069, 10,000 trailer weight and 1,000 tongue weight. My truck is a 2018 RAM1500 4X4 short bed, 5.7lt. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If the estimated weight of your trailer is 7,500 lbs then that means the tongue weight will likely be between 750 lbs and 1,125 lbs. If you take into consideration the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle which you should, that puts you slightly over the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System part # BXW1000. That said, the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System part # BXW1500 would be rated a bit too high as well which is why I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37120ET because it will be perfect for your tongue weight and a much better system than the Blue Ox SwayPro due to the more durable hitch head and better performing sway control.
