Why Does Bumper Beam of 2019 Honda Civic Need to be Trimmed to Install Curt Trailer Hitch

Hi Etrailer: I am a return customer. Very happy with prior purchases. For the 2019 Honda Civic Curt hitch that I am planning to buy what is the reason for the cutting and trimming? Thanks:

Since the Curt hitch part # C92UR for your 2019 Honda Civic fits between the bumper beam and the rear frame area of your vehicle it adds a bit of length to the bumper beam assembly. By that I mean the bumper beam sticks out further due to the bracket width of the hitch. So, a corner of the bracket has to be taken off so that the bumper cover can fit over the beam without interference.
