How To Power the Curt Echo Using a 2010 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
my tacoma does NOT have towpackage...i read earlier that the pin at 1-oclock position should be 12v Hot....my 7- pin connector at 1-oclock was not hot at that time ...my buddy and i used the yellow brake wire feed to make that pin hot...my question is is that enough power off the yellow wire enough to make the curt controller hot for a sufficient connection ??....Thanks

I am not sure what wire you are referring to but the 1 o'clock pin on the 7-way must be ran directly to the battery. In order to do this you will need both part # 10-1-1 and part # 9510. Please note if your 2010 Toyota Tacoma came with a factory 7-way then the 1 o'clock pin should be active with the vehicle on unless you have a fuse blown. The 1 o'clock pin does not need to be active all the time, just when the vehicle is running in order for the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 to work. If the 1 o'clock pin is not active even with the vehicle running then that is when you would run your own wire to the battery.
