Does Load Range of 225/75R15 Trailer Tire Affect Durability

Question:

Cool thank you for the info. Another quick question can I get those tires ether load range mounted on aluminum rims? I have steel wheels 6 x 5 1/2 pattern. If I can can I also get flashier lug nuts to go with the rims etc

That is a good question and it is certainly reasonable to think that might be the case but it actually is not. A ST225/75R15 trailer tire with a load range of D such as the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM10256 will last just as long and perform just as well as its equivalent with a load range of E, the Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # AM10303.

Generally speaking, the higher the load range of tire, the more expensive, so as long as the tires have the proper capacity for your trailer - 2,540 lbs at 65 psi per tire for the load range D Karrier and 2,830 lbs at 80 psi for the load range E - you will essentially be paying more money and not seeing any benefit.

So long as you inflate the tire to the maximum cold psi you will get the best performance, because the tire will wear slower. I have added links to video reviews of both of the aforementioned tires for you to check out.

Happy to help and you can absolutely get either tire mounted on aluminum wheels with flashier lug nuts and I'll go over your options for you. For a ST225/75R15 tire and aluminum wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, if you wanted to go with Load Range D I recommend checking out the Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" Viking Aluminum Wheel # A225R6FPS which has a center cap, or for something a little different style the Castle Rock ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w/ 15" Bobcat Aluminum Wheel # LHACKSO311B. If you wanted to go with a Load Range E ST225/75R15 tire and aluminum wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern the best options are the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" Jaguar Aluminum Wheel # LHAWSJ392 or the same tire with a Bobcat Aluminum Wheel # LHAWSO311B. For each of these wheels you can use the Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # 12CLN or the slightly longer Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # 12CLN-L which will look great. I have added links to video reviews for you to take a look at as well.
