Dimensions Between Removable Tabs for Blue Ox Base Plate Kit for 2008 Ford Focus

Question:

Im thinking about buying a 2008 Ford focus. I need to know the exact measurements between the brackets that go on to the frame. Also I need to know the measurements between the two brackets that your towbar hooks into. Thanks

The distance between the tabs that the tow bar connects to for the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit# BX2199 is 20". This is a custom fit base plate kit for a 2008 - 2011 Ford Focus so it will fit on the outside of your frame on either side as you can see from the linked instructions and sample installation video. If you measure outside frame to outside frame in the locations that this kit installs you will get the measurements you are looking for.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. I recommend using the Demco Commander II Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates # DM9511012-BX because it is much easier to use and maneuver than a Blue Ox tow bar. You can also pair this tow bar with the Demco Tow Bar Combo Kit # DM9523057 which gives you a cover and locks for the tow bar plus the diode system needed to activate the lights on your Focus.

Then you just need a braking system for which I recommend the Brake Buddy Classic 3 # HM39494 with the Relay Kit # RM-88400. Not only is the Brake Buddy name one of the oldest and most reliable out there but you also get one of their newest braking systems that is easy to use, portable (transferable between vehicles) and comes with a remote control so you can make adjustments from the comfort of your motorhome.
