Will a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Work On a 2016 Ram 2500 Long Bed

Question:

I have a 2016 Ram 2500 and have been offered an 18,000 lb sliding hitch for free. I know these are designed for short beds, but I have an 8 foot bed. Can I use this type of hitch?

Yes, you can still use a sliding 5th wheel hitch on your 2016 Ram 2500 with an 8' bed. However, you would just not want to use the slider mechanism while driving. In order to mount this 5th wheel hitch you can use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50054-58 or the Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter part # RP30154 if you have the factory in-bed pucks. These will work with all brands of 5th wheel hitches that use industry standard rails like Reese, Curt, Husky, Pro Series, Valley etc.
