Solution For Reducing Chucking with Lippert Air Ride Pin Box
Question:
Can the pivot plate on a Flex Air pin box be added to the Air Ride pin box as an aftermarket component? My 5th wheel came with the air ride and I would like to add the pivot plate to reduce the chucking.

The pivoting head/mechanism on the Trailair Flex Air Pin Boxes like # LC369535 certainly do reduce a lot of chucking during travel but unfortunately this piece cannot be added to your Air Ride model pin box # LC158778.
If you are experiencing a lot of chucking your best option is either to replace the Air Ride with the Trailair Flex Air pin box on the trailer or upgrade the 5th wheel hitch you are using. I'm not sure what model hitch you currently have but a lot of chucking can be eliminated by having one with a single-piece jaw design like what is on the excellent Reese M5 Series # RP30928.
This hitch features a forged, single-piece self-latching jaw that wraps completely around the king pin. This works to take the play out of the connection, resulting in a much quieter and much smoother ride on the road. I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
