Can the 10K Curt MV Weight Distribution System Be Upgraded to the 14K
Question:
I have purchased the 17062 system for my truck but was wondering if I could use this hitch to tow in the 14k range if I swapped out the trailer ball for a higher rated weight and got the 10-14k bars? From what I can see all the mv hitches use the same head and the spring bars are the same diameter.

Expert Reply:
The Curt MV Weight Distribution System part # C17062 would not be very effective with a 14,000 lb trailer. However, you can make it effective with this weight by upgrading to the Replacement Spring Bar for Curt MV Weight Distribution System part # C17074. This upgraded spring bar will be a direct fit. The hitch ball will not need to be replaced.
