Adding Disc Brakes to 2010 Forest River Cedar Creek Silverback 5th Wheel Trailer
Question:
I have 2010 Forest River Cedar Creek Silverback fifth wheel and I want to convert to disc brakes. I presently have 9/16 lugs. Apparently your discs for 7000-lb Lippert axles only have 1/2 lugs. Will there be any safety issue going from 9/16 to 1/2 lugs? What is the difference between a 14125 outer bearing and a 14125A outer bearing? In particular, will my old 14125 outer bearing work with your K2HR712D, disc brake hub/rotors?

The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712D should work great for your 2010 Forest River Cedar Creek Silverback 5th wheel camper. Since this kit is rated for your 7K axles there isn't any concern with having the smaller 1/2" lugs. Most wheels are compatible with both size studs as well.
I honestly haven't heard of just a 14125 bearing before so I'd imagine that whoever manufactured your bearing made it to fit the specs for the # 14125A bearing. All you need to do to verify this is measure the inner diameter and make sure that is measures 1.250". If this is the case then you are good to go!
You should also have an electric over hydraulic (EOH) actuator on your 5th wheel which needs to be upgraded to handle the higher psi rating that is required for disc brakes. The most popular options are the Dexter DX Series # K71-651, the HydraStar # HBA16, and the Titan BrakeRite EHB # T4813102. Any of these options will work with the Kodiak disc brake kit you're looking at.
