Recommended Placement of Bunk Boards on Bayliner Capri 1950

Question:

Proper alignment of bunk boards with Hull

After completing a very thorough image search online, it appears that the most common bunk placement is about 2/3 of the way between the keel and the ridge that runs along the side of the hull. Rather than on end, most of the bunks I saw had the board meeting the hull on the flat. This disperses more of the weight of the boat along the bunk.

The # CE27820 bunk boards you mentioned would be perfect. I'd also recommend using # CE10001G-4 bunk brackets and # CE15283GA-4 Galvanized u-bolts.

I have a 18' Seahunt boat, single axle Horizon trailer. I am putting new bunk boards and carpet, but took the old boards off without noticing the placement of the boards. How far should the boards overhang at the back of the trailer, should they be even with the end of the trailer or a little past it? I am ready to put them back on, just want to make sure the placement is correct. Thanks.

Based on my research for that particular boat/trailer setup, it definitely looks like you want the boards to overhang the back of the trailer a bit. I'm not sure exactly how much they should overhang, but at least a little to help with launch and loading.
